Kostis Palamas was a Greek poet and journalist. He wrote the text of the Olympic Anthem. He was one of the central figures in Greek literature.
In the late nineteenth century, he worked as a journalist.
He died during the German occupation in the Second World War.
He was informally called "national" poet of Greece and was closely associated with the struggle to liberate modern Greece with the "purist" language and with political liberalism. He dominated Greek literary life for more than 30 years and strongly influenced the entire intellectual climate policy of his time.
