Dáil Éireann, also called Revolutionary Dáil, was the revolutionary unicameral parliament of the Republic of Ireland from 1919 to 1922.
The First Dáil convention coincided with the beginning of the War of Independence.
The powers of the Dáil Éireann are similar to those of the other lower chambers in the bicameral parliamentary systems, it is the main branch of the Oireachtas.
It has the power to approve laws and to appoint or remove the Taoiseach (head of government).
Since 1922, the seat of the Dáil Éireann is at Leinster House, in Dublin.
