Coin dedicated to 750th Anniversary of the birth of Giotto, Brilliant Uncirculated.
Pupil of Cimabue, Giotto is counted among the greatest Italian painters, initiator of a new Italian figurative art style and model for Renaissance artists. The frescoes in the Basilica of Assisi depicting the Stories of Saint Francis, the Cross of Santa Maria Novella in Florence, the frescoes in the Scrovegni Chapel in Padua and the Basilica of Santa Croce in Florence are among his best known works. He was also a renowned architect: nominated master builder of the Opera del Duomo in Florence, Giotto built the bell tower, which bears his name.
The obverse of the coin depicts a detail of the bell tower of the Cathedral of Florence and the portrait of Giotto.
